The proper name for black diamonds is carbonado. It is a natural diamond found in the Central African Republic and Brazil. It is naturally dark grey or black in color. Black diamonds are more porous than white or yellow diamonds. They are formed of many small particles bound and stuck together. This makes them more porous than white diamonds.
Though found in the same countries as white diamonds, it is not found in the same places are white diamonds (kimberlite pipes). This makes it a rather curious diamond in that it is not found in those same places.
There are many theories about what causes the formation of black diamonds. Some of them are pressure on carbon in the earth’s interior, meteors from space, radiation, and shock from the impact of meteorites from space.
